Dance Marathon at the University of Florida is an annual 26.2-hour event benefiting the patients of UF Health Shands Children's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Each year, more than 800 students stay awake and on their feet to raise money and awareness for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. In the 19 years of Dance Marathon at UF's existence, more than $6.4 million has been donated, making it the most successful student-run philanthropy in the Southeastern United States. In 2013, DM at UF raised a grand total of $1,169,722.16 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital.
Delta Tau Delta was able to win the Dance Marathon Miracle Cup, based on total money fundraised and spirit points, for the third straight year in a row raising $62,000 for the Children's Miracle Network and a combined $130,000 with our partners of Kappa Delta. This marks the third consecutive year Delta Tau Delta has been awarded the top fraternity fundraiser in Dance Marathon, donating over $135,000 for the cause in the process. In the past year alone each member was able to raise an average of $719 for philanthropic events in a chapter that exceeds one hundred active members. We set a fundraising goal of $40,000 and exceeded that goal by $22,000 to raise a total of $62,000. This was the highest amount raised by any fraternity since its creation and represents a yearlong effort and participation in Dance Marathon related events. Brothers worked tirelessly to spread awareness of the event among all family, friends, and relatives across the nation.
